Former Twitter Employee Claims Age Discrimination

You Have Rights As A Worker. I Will Help Protect Them.

Some might assume that with age comes experience. Surely this would be a favorable characteristic in an employee, but sadly this is not always the case. Workers who are perfectly capable of doing their jobs find themselves being dismissed and replaced by younger employees. Furthermore, discrimination of this kind occurs in workplaces all over the U.S. with California being no exception.

One man facing the grim reality of this is a 57-year-old former Twitter employee whose position was terminated a mere month after he went through kidney stone surgery. The man, who had worked as a manager for Twitter in its data center deployment, claims he saved the company millions. He met the required standards in performance reviews, yet found himself being replaced by other workers, aged in their 20s and 30s.

His attorney unsuccessfully attempted to secure an agreement with Twitter without having to take it to court, but it was to no avail. The company maintains its position that there is no merit to the case. However, the former employee recalls, as he was being fired, at least one remark about his age made by his supervisor. He also feels that the company failed to make provision for his recovery from his operation.

This man may be in for a long dispute as these situations are rarely easy to resolve. Nevertheless, if you find yourself in a similar situation, you should not be discouraged. Discriminatory employers must be held to account for their actions so they can be prevented from continuing to mistreat people. An attorney can advise you on the options available to you and may be able to help you secure compensation for your unjust treatment.
