In California, there are many employees who could tell you that every job has its ups and downs. Unfortunately, some jobs are more down than up, especially when your employer ignores your rights and treats you unfairly. Worse still, if you complain, you may be afraid of retaliation and the possibility of being fired for standing up for yourself.

A former employee of Haggen has accused the grocer of unfair dismissal and has filed a lawsuit with the state court in California. According to the suit, the grocer had been overcharging customers. However, the suit also alleges that when the complainant mentioned the issue, she was forced out of her job. As such, she is suing the company for wrongful termination as well as a violation of California’s labor code.

In response to the allegations, Haggen claims the suit has no merit and has expressed disappointment in the accusations. However, the suit claims that the employee felt compelled to retire after being told that her superiors wanted to fire her. The incident marks a sad end to a career lasting 38 years. However, if the claim is successful, the former employee may be entitled to substantial compensation.

It is never easy to stand up to your superiors and being forced out of your job can be immeasurably distressing and discouraging. However, you do not deserve to be treated so unfairly, and it is important to challenge such unjust decisions. An attorney may be able to help you build your case and file a lawsuit against the responsible parties. With this assistance, you may be able to regain your position and even secure financial compensation for your mistreatment.
