California woman in continuing discrimination case

If you fulfill the requirements of your position, then there is no reason you should be treated any differently from other employees who do the same. However, it is a sad fact that numerous employees in California face discrimination in their place of work every day. This violation of their employee rights not only makes it harder for them to do their job well, but can also have a lasting effect on their confidence and emotional well-being.

Your employer should protect you from harassment

Experiencing any form of mistreatment at work is unpleasant and distressing. Beyond that, it is also unacceptable. No matter your line of work, you deserve to be fairly treated by your employer and colleagues. Sadly, many workers in California face discrimination and harassment every day. However, fearing for the security of their jobs, many also do not stand up to those harassing them.

Be aware of wage laws in your home state

All too many workers in California are subjected to long hours for very little pay. Sadly, many do not even realize that their employers are operating outside the bounds of the law. Being aware of your rights when it comes to hourly wages and overtime pay is vital, no matter where you work. If you feel you are being underpaid, it may be time to take a stand.

Are you too old for your job?

As many people in California will have heard someone say at some point, with age comes experience, and in a work environment, surely this can only be a good thing. However, some employers do not appear to think so and many workers find themselves facing unfair treatment as they enter their later years.
